Friends of GCS
A warm welcome to all parents, carers, relatives and friends of Guildford County School.
The Friends of GCS is a registered charity run by a committee of enthusiastic volunteer parents and school representatives.
The aims of the charity are to provide a sense of community between parents, students and the school as well as raising funds for large and small projects to benefit our students.
New committee members are always welcome as are people who don’t want to attend the meetings but are willing to help at one or more events throughout the year.
The committee generally meet once a term and the AGM is held towards the end of September each year.
Each year the profit raised is split between a major project and curriculum bursaries or the ‘subject wish list’. In the past, items purchased have included inventor kits to support learning in IT, a weather station for geography, extra text books for English, dictionaries for foreign languages as well as crash mats for PE.
This year the ‘main project’ is the Sports Hall Appeal and our fundraising target is £60,000.
To this end we have approached our activities slightly differently and focused on sponsored events as the main way of gathering funding.
It really has to be a team effort if we are to succeed in achieving this target so please follow us on social media to keep up to date with our activities.
