EAL
English as Additional Language lessons are aimed at helping students who don't have English as a first language develop their English comprehension, speaking and writing skills so that they are better able to access learning across their subjects.
The EAL group is currently comprised of a small group of year 7 students, and they have 2 hours of lessons a fortnight. This half-term we have been focusing on reading comprehension, vocabulary building, reading out loud and pronunciation. The students have been studying the novel 'Private peaceful', which some year 7s are reading in their English lessons. Next half-term students will continue to read a range of texts and there will also be more of a focus on developing grammar and writing skills.
