During the Autumn Term of Year 12, students are briefed on the requirements for Oxbridge, Medicine or Veterinary courses. Our Aspire Programme guides students through the preparation required for an application and is led by an Oxford Alumni member of the teaching staff. Visiting speakers form an important part of the programme and students are encouraged to sign up for university visits and opportunities (a County visit to St. Hilda’s College, Oxford, takes place in the Spring Term of Year 12), publicised in our Sixth Form Bulletin. Application for the Eton Summer School is also encouraged. Heads of Department play an important role in identifying and supporting the potential candidates academically.
During the Summer Term of Year 12, students are given support and guidance with their personal statements and help completing the UCAS form to meet the early October deadline. A rigorous schedule of practice interviews, with a variety of interviewers both from County and outside, ensures candidates are well prepared for this part of the process. Recently we have linked up with schools such as the Royal Grammar School and Guildford High School to broaden interview provision.
We encourage all students with an Average Point Score at GCSE of 8+ to consider an application and are pleased to announce we achieved a record number of Oxbridge offers for September 2023 entry, due to the success of our Aspire Programme.
