Year 7 Rounders

There were some good skills on show yesterday evening as the Year 7 rounders team saw a home victory, winning their first Rounders tournament, held at Wodeland in front of a big home crowd of parents!

Their first match saw some competent fielding and big hits from the batting as they finished the first game with a 10-4 win.

In the second match against George Abbot, the girls couldn’t rack up the rounders needed and coupled with some fielding errors that cost them the game and they lost 1 ½ - 5.

The third match against Howard came down to the last 4 ball of the match, where having fielded first the girls chased down the Howard  score and with some smart tactical play walked away with a 8-7 ½ victory in the closest match of the afternoon.

Spirits high and with it all to play for, the last match of the afternoon against St Peters was the deal breaker. With some good fielding and teamwork in the first innings and some big hits County clocked up the rounders to beat, St Peters 7 ½ - 6 in the final balls of the match.

Drawing on points with GAbbot is came down to count back of rounders scored with County totalling 27 Rounders and GAbbot totalling 21 ½ the Y7 team emerged triumphant from the tournament, well played girls!!
