Lower School Curriculum
As a school we are constantly striving to achieve outstanding progress for every student, by delivering lessons that are always of the highest standard. We aim for our students to be committed, happy, and successful. The Lower School curriculum has both mixed ability subjects, as well subjects where students are taught in sets. You will receive three Interim Reports (IRs) throughout the year containing information on progress and commitment in each subject. Each IR will be followed by Student Review, an opportunity for your child to review their progress and set new targets for improvement.
At the start of the Spring Term in Year 9, our students begin to decide on what subjects they will study for GCSE.
Since there is obviously a strong link between these Option subjects and your future career, it is important that careful consideration is given to the whole process. During this process parents are invited to an Options Evening in order to be well informed and help students make the correct choices. Also an options booklet is issued and students are welcome to engage in discussions with and staff throughout the term. Implications of choices made will have an impact on their future both in terms of motivation to succeed, and future careers and education pathways. All option choices will be confirmed at the start of the summer term
