Friends of GCS

A warm welcome to all parents, carers, relatives and friends of Guildford County School.

Who Are We?

The Friends of GCS is a registered charity run by a team of enthusiastic volunteer parents and school representatives.

The aims of the charity are:

· To maintain and enhance relationships between members of the school community.

· To raise funds for resources and experiences that our school would not otherwise be able to provide.

Organisation

The Core Team (elected members of the committee) take the lead role in planning events and fundraising for the charity. The Core Team are ably supported by our wonderful parents and carers who generously donate their time, skills and money towards events and projects.

In addition to communications within the Core Team, there is an ‘Open Meeting’ once a term where everyone in the school community is warmly invited to hear about recent and future events and to contribute ideas – we try to offer an in-person and a Zoom option to allow as many people as possible to attend.

The AGM is held in September or October each year, where a Chair’s and Treasurer’s report of the past year are shared, and members of the Core Team are elected or re-elected.

Current Core Team

  • Chair – Amy Carter
  • Treasurer – Karey Banwell
  • Secretary – Liz Robinson
  • Second-hand Uniform Lead – Jenny Blake
  • Core Team members – Rachel Burt, Julia Clayton-Eke and Laura Hinton
