Moving On

Higher Education

Please find below the main parts of our programme and important dates related to making applications. Extensive guidance and support is given through external presentations to students/parents, tutorial sessions, and individual discussion with Tutors and the Sixth Form Team.

Whilst we support every student in their future plans, we recognise that some areas (Oxbridge, Medics, Vets etc) are particularly competitive and we give additional support to students aspiring to those areas. Please ask the Director of Sixth Form for more details on this.

In a time of increasing competition for University and employment, it is very important that students research options thoroughly, consider ways of enhancing any application (e.g.: relevant work experience), make early applications, and keep us informed of their plans.

All Year 12 undertake work experience at the end of the summer term. In addition, we support students who gain work experience opportunities at other times of the year.

Post A2 Results

The Sixth Form team are available on and after results day to support students failing to meet university offers, or considering a change of plan about the year ahead. In 2018, only 3 of our students needed to go through Clearing to find a University course; all the others gained their offer grades.

Applying to University after leaving Guildford County

This may occur following a Gap Year, if student performance is above/below their own expectations, or if they change their plans. Students apply direct to UCAS and we add the reference on file via a secure password.
